I began my work as a professional artist in 1990 with my own caricature art business. Since then I've expanded into computer animation and graphics (starting in 1995) and in 2002 I began creating illustrations for books. My character animations and graphics have appeared in games, online, in display kiosks, on CD-ROM and in print.
The unifying element in all my projects is my interest in designing quality characters and infusing them with life.
I've created original graphics and animations for a variety of computer and multimedia applications: children's games, adventure games, puzzle games, educational kiosks, product advertisements, desktop publishing and a diverse collection of other online toys and gizmos. My illustration projects have included gag comics, caricatures, storyboards, spot illustrations, book illustrations, playbills, comic books, game character design, web animations, web banners and a variety of other character-driven illustration work.
The foundation of my training is drawing and anatomy. I received a Bachelor of Arts from Northern Illinois University in 1992. I also have additional training in computer graphics from The School of Visual Concepts and character animation training from Seattle animation authority, James Coffin.
My illustration work is done directly on the computer, pen and ink, colored pencil, acrylic and/or watercolor. On the computer, I work primarily in Photoshop and Flash. For optimized files, I will often use other computer programs including Freehand, Fireworks and ImageReady.
I enjoy networking and volunteering for art organizations. I am a member of the Seattle chapter of the Graphic Artists Guild and a member of the WA/ID chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
I live and work in Seattle Washington. When not creating art, I play musical instruments, enjoy the company of family, cats and dogs and generally have a very good time.
